- At least two of Cornwall’s brothers also migrated to the region.
- Alfred Doxsee (1814–1891) was one of his brothers, buried at Riverside Cemetery, Moline, IL.
- Isaac & Johnathan Doxsee (Civil War Veterans)
- Both served in Company F, 89th Illinois Infantry Division, later transferring to the 1st United States Cavalry Division.
- Served in the Army of the Potomac during the Civil War.
- Johnathan survived the war but died on April 26, 1867, from disease.
- Isaac also died of disease after discharge, but his exact death date and cause remain unknown.
- Augustus Henry “Gus” Doxsee (1847–1935) – The Youngest Brother
- Enlisted in the 140th Illinois Infantry Division in 1864 at age 18.
- Newspaper records suggest he first entered service at age 14 and served for three years.
- The only one of Cornwall’s sons who survived the war.

- Married Anna (Ann) Crummy in 1873, an Irish immigrant who migrated to Leland, Illinois as a child.
